The Southwest Boarder Dispute '08 will be held rain or shine. Space is limited, so register early. The Shooting starts on Friday with Side matches and Warm-up and ends Sunday with the Awards Ceremony. There is a MANDATORY SHOOTERS MEETING 8:00 A.M. Saturday. Your registration must be complete and Shooters packets picked up before this shooters meeting.
Dry Camping: Dry Camping is Free at our Range for this Match. We will be open and ready to receive guests starting Thursday. Outhouses and potable water are on site, and RV's can obtain water at the Fowler Lumber Building upon arrival. Overnight storage of your cart (no guns) in our Cart Corral at the Range is available.
Who can shoot?: You must be a SASS® member in good standing to shoot this State Match. All SASS® competitors, from any state, are welcome. The TOP GUN and individual categories will be open to any competitor as well as top three competitors from in New Mexico, but only New Mexico residents (1 Cowboy & 1 Cowgirl) can win the SASS® NM State Champ Buckles. Overall Match top Cowboy and Cowgirl will get a hand Crafted SW Border Dispute Buckle
Shooters Fees: See the Registration Web Page(Printable) OR Registration Form (Printable Adobe PDF file) for details on all Fees. Saturday Lunch & Dinner and Sunday Lunch are all FREE to registered shooters.
Posse Me With: In order to accommodate you, we ask that you try to send in your reservations within reasonable proximity of your posse partner. Otherwise there may be no guarantee we can accommodate your request.
Ammunition Requirements You will need approximately 120 rounds of pistol, 120 rounds of rifle and 60 rounds of shotgun ammunition for the Main Match Stages. You are scheduled to shoot 12 stages, Seven (7) on Saturday and Five (5) on Sunday. There will also be a 3 stage Warm-up match on Friday (Separate $10 Match Fee), Side Matches, the Posse shoot, and possible the Cowboy Clays, so plan your extra ammo accordingly.
Side Matches: All side matches (except Clays) are included FREE with your paid registration. Fastest Pistol/Rifle/Shotgun, Man-On-Man, Pocket Pistol. Some will require your skill to top your competitors... some will just require your luck to win. The Long Range facility will be open in all categories. Side matches are Friday from 10AM to 1PM and again from 4PM to 6PM
Warm-up Match: For a $10 fee, there will be a three stage Warm-up match conducted on Friday from 1PM to 4PM to sharpen your skills for the Main Event.
Cowboy Clays: Will be conducted on Friday and possible Sunday if there are enough interested participants. For a $10 match fee, there will be a winning pot of 30%, 20%, and 10% going to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
BRASS: Brass will be picked-up and returned to each shooter. (provided we can find it all!)
Categories: All SASS® categories will be available for recognition, provided there are 3 or more shooters in that category.
Scoring: Main Match will be Total Time scoring.
Awards: The Awards ceremony will be held Sunday Afternoon starting around 3:00PM. A Prize Drawing will be conducted for all Clean Match shooters.
Drawing Prizes: We hope to assemble wide variety of drawing prizes that will be drawn at the Awards Ceremony Sunday afternoon. TEN Derringers will be in the pot.
FOOD!: Saturday Lunch & Dinner and Sunday Lunch are all FREE to registered shooters.
We plan to have a food vendor on site for the entire match for snacking & hydration. For additional diners, there is a $12 individual Dinner, and a $6 Lunch coupon fee Saturday and $6 for Sunday.
Vendors: There will be food and drink available on the range. we hope to accommodate any Vendor with an inclination to show there wares on Sutler's Row. We ask only a contribution to the Prize Drawing pool. Water will also be available close to each range.
Mounted Shoot Information:
The 2008 NM State Mounted Championship...
...will be held at Founders Ranch during the Buffalo Stampede in April 2008.
$60.00 for the
four stage Mounted Shooting Event alone.
$50.00 for Mounted Shooting
if you are a registered Ground Shooter.
There may be practice runs
on Thursday ($5 per run for blank & balloon
expense) Dry runs, although free, may
be limited.
Five Shooter categories will be offered:
Men's, Men's Senior,
Ladies, Ladies Senior, Juniors
Prizes will be
presented to the top winners.
Refund Policy: Entry Deadline is July 1st, 2008. Refund requests received prior to the Deadline are subject to a $5.00 processing fee. Refunds after the Deadline, are subject to a $15.00 processing fee, and a late or day-of shoot registration surcharge is $5.
The included Lunches & Dinner, will be hosted on the Range by the local Eastern Star chapter of the Mimbres Masons Lodge. The Mimbres Cafe will be open for the evening meals. A selection of food and soft drinks will be available for purchase at the range. Water jugs will be stationed around the range for the 'dry and parched'. Remember, New Mexico is very warm and dry in July, so be sure and drink plenty of fluids.
There are many other things for the non-shooters to do in Silver City and the surrounding area, so bring your significant other. There are over 50 art galleries in the area, numerous shops in the historic Bullard Street downtown area, two museums and nice parks. There are also several interesting day trips available, like the City of Rocks, the Cliff Dwellings, and the Cat Walk, to name a few. Visit the Silver City/Grant County Chamber of Commerce for information on the surrounding area.
