Annual Meeting - July 9th, 2005     FY 2005/2006

 

Meeting was called to order by Frank Ferrara.

Old Business:

- The membership was assured that our presence and use of the Fowler City Range was secured for the foreseeable future. Our current lease, schedule to expire in November’05, will be renewed. The Fowler Land and Cattle Company was offered a quarterly increase to $100 (from $50) for general use of the land and will maintain the $1 per shooter fee.

- The net profits for Victorio Run’05 was estimated to be between $2,500 and $3,000. Many new range items/targets were bought during the period prior to VR05, and an exact accounting was not available.

- The net profits for Border Dispute’05 was estimated to be approximately $1,100. (68 shooters attended)

- The Rio Grande Renegades sent thanks for the loan of targets for their EOT warm-up shoot.

 

 

Notices & Information:

- The group was informed that the standard scheduled workday, was the Friday before the regular scheduled 2nd Saturday of the month shoot, starting at 10AM. (website should be checked for changes)

- Members desiring to help out at work days at the range can earn up to five (5) coupons valued as admission for one (1) regular monthly shoot. The policy to acquire coupons for any other activities, will require further review.

- The Two Rivers Mounted Shootout is on schedule for July 23rd and 34th, assuming there are enough registered participants that can transport their horses. (quarantine in Arizona)

- SASS has established a Monthly Club at Founders Ranch called the Buffalo Range Riders.

 

 

New Business:

- Membership renewal ($25) in the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association (NMSSA) was discussed. Since no significant benefit could be attributed to the membership, renewal was declined.

- The Gila Ranger Christmas Party was scheduled for December 10th at 3PM, after the regular shoot. It will likely be held at the old Cattleguard restaurant as a private party. Updates will follow.

- The membership was notified that we had not been following the Bylaws on the exact fees associated in regards to membership, as specified in the Bylaws. The motion was submitted to maintain what we have been following: Individuals: $25 for new Memberships and renewals. Family: $40 for 2 Adults and all Juniors in the family. Shoot fees of $5 for Members and $10 for Non Members, but first time shooters would shoot for free.

Motion/Seconded - Chico Cheech/MacIntyre. Motion Passed.

 

-The floor was asked for nominations for all Club Officer positions. Only the Secretary position was nominated. The slate of Officers was established as the following:

Motion/Seconded – Four Flusher/Apprentice. Motion Passed.

D.A. Broncks graciously ‘volunteered’ to be an assistant to the Secretary.

 

- The 5th Officer (Board Member At Large) is the Club’s Territorial Governor. Chico Cheech has been the Acting TG since last October. A motion was presented by Four Flusher and seconded by Apprentice to nominate and elect WW (Bill Wilken) as the Gila Ranger Club’s Territorial Governor and 5th Board Member. Motion Passed

 

- Our new TG, WW, updated the group on the new requirements to update and renew RO-I and RO-II qualifications, and trends in targets and SASS rules.

 

- The Group was asked for any input on any subject of Gila Ranger business:

Target replacement was discussed to upgrade the type and quality of the aging target inventory.

Additional fire suppression on the range will also be addressed by the Board.

 

-A suggestion was made to segregate some of the club activities into separate clubs, groups, or committees, such as Ground Shooting, Mounted Shooting and Outside Activities. This aspect of re-organization will be evaluated for implementation. It was also suggested by Led Foulin’, members be requires to ‘sign-up’ for a committee assignment as part of the requirements of membership.

 

A motion was made to adjourn the annual meeting by Four Flusher and seconded by H.H. Whitehill. Motion Passed by a majority of members present.
